Do you feel deflated after sending so many CVs with no positive response?

Let me tell you something ,It's not you. It's the job market right now and especially in Switzerland, the process and competition is different to many other countries.

So let’s be clear, the job market today is tough, jobs are scarce right now in certain fields and simply sending CVs is often not enough.

Here's how to navigate this job market more effectively:

1. Tailor Your CV - Job seekers often send a generic CV to multiple employers. But hiring managers can spot a template from a mile away. The first half page of your CV has to catch the Employer’s attention! Customise your CV for each job. Highlight the skills, experiences and achievements that are most relevant to the job. It takes time, but it’s time well spent.

2. Networking is Key, You can be the perfect candidate, but if no one knows about you, it makes it much tougher. Connect with industry professionals on LinkedIn or attend networking events. A personal recommendation can be more powerful than a perfectly crafted CV.

3. Leverage Social Media. Social media isn't just for personal use. Showcase your expertise on platforms like LinkedIn. Optimise your LinkedIn profile. Share insights, engage in discussions, and make your presence known.

4. FollowUp. After sending your CV, don’t just wait. Send a polite followup email. Express your continued interest and ask if there’s anything else you can provide.

5. Consider Alternative Routes. Traditional job applications aren’t the only way. Explore interim opportunities that can lead to permanent positions.

Remember, the job market is evolving, and to stay ahead of the curve, you need to treat your job search like a project which needs daily work. It’s not about the number of CVs you send, but the quality of your strategy.
